What is AIBC?The Asia Investment & Banking Conference (AIBC) is a two-day in-person event in Hong Kong designed to provide senior professionals, reputable academics and the brightest students with the opportunity to meet and discuss topics relating to the banking and finance industry. Due to COVID, our previous three AIBC conferences were held online. This year, we are going to host an in-person conference for AIBC 2023 in Hong Kong.

Who will be speaking at AIBC 2023?Our speakers will be senior professionals from the banking and finance industry, representing the largest and most recognised global institutions. While we confirm this year's speakers, our past speakers can be found here.

When and where will AIBC 2023 be held?30 & 31 August 2023 in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

Who is hosting AIBC 2023?AIBC 2023 is organised by students from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). You can find out more about the committee here.

What are the requirements to attend AIBC 2023?We welcome students from all around the world, not just from Asia, interested in the financial industry regardless of their backgrounds. As part of the selection process, CV submission is required.

Who can attend?We welcome all pre-university, undergraduates and postgraduate students to join. Students do not need to be from Asia or Asian ethnicity to join our conference. It is open to all students from different backgrounds.

When will applications for AIBC 2023 open?Early bird applications for AIBC 2023 will open on 15 April 2023 and regular application for AIBC 2023 will open on 21 May 2023 . Stay tuned by subscribing to us and follow our social medias on Instagram, LinkedIn and joining our WhatsApp/ Telegram groups!

Do AIBC 2023 provide sponsorship or scholarship?Sorry we don't provide any sponsorship or scholarship to delegates.

What is the conference dress code?The conference dress code is business formal.

Where can I find information about the event agenda and schedule?The agenda and schedule for AIBC 2023 will be released in August 2023. August 2022 schedule can be found on our website.

What does the price include?Access to the conference and participation in the competitions.

When will I hear back about the application result?AIBC committee will start sending out offers in late May.

Can I still pay the early bird price of HKD 850 after the deadlineNo, early bird applications will close on May 20 2359 BST. Any application submitted after May 20 will be charged at the regular price.

Does AIBC sponsor travel and accommodation to attend AIBC 2023?No, delegates are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation arrangements.

Does AIBC sponsor delegates with VISA applications if needed?No, AIBC does not sponsor any visa application. Delegates are responsible for receiving the appropriate visa to travel and stay in Hong Kong.

What should I do if I require a visa to visit Hong Kong?Please visit the Hong Kong Government website for any visa-related inquiries. The committee will provide a letter for visa application if required.

What can I expect at AIBC 2023?AIBC 2023 offers keynote addresses, panel discussions, workshops, group breakout session (GBS), networking session and flagship competitions. The keynote addresses and panel discussions will focus on investment banking, sales and trading, asset management, private banking and graduate recruitment. GBS offers delegates opportunities to study, discuss and present various topics in M&A and Asset Management in a group setting, and also interact with representatives from our sponsor firms who will provide insight and advice throughout. AIBC 2023 presents three flagship competitions surrounding our core themes: M&A , S&T and AM. Winning teams could win selective fast-track internships, exclusive networking opportunities with our sponsors, and cash prizes.

Who can sign up for the competitions?Students from all backgrounds, including pre-university, undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA and PhD, are welcome to sign up.

How many competitions can I sign up for?Delegates can sign up for at most 2 competitions out of the M&A, AM and S&T competitions. However, between the M&A and AM competitions, you can only participate in one of these two. If your team is selected for the final round of the M&A or AM competition, you will be automatically dropped out of the S&T competition due to timetable clash.

Do you need to have prior finance knowledge to enter the competition?Prior finance knowledge is not a prerequisite. However, some finance knowledge would be good as the competitions require strong quantitative and qualitative analysis to analyse the case.

If I want to join the competition, must I attend the conference?No, it is not compulsory to join the conference to participate in the competition. However, the entrance fee is still the same if you only join the competition.

If I want to join the competition, does each team member need to apply for AIBC 2023?Yes, each member has to sign up individually. Delegates who sign up for the competition will have a higher chance of being accepted into the conference.

Is there an additional competition sign-up fee?No, the entrance fee covers participation in competitions. But only delegates who pay the conference fee will be allowed to join the competitions.

Would I only be able to participate in the competitions if I get the conference offer?Yes. Delegates who sign up for the competition will have a higher chance of being accepted to the conference.

Do my teammates need to be from the same university?No, your teammates may be from different universities.

How could I sign up for the competitions?Please ensure you fill out both the conference and competition application forms.

How can I apply for the AM Competition?You MUST be an accepted delegate to enrol to the AM competition. To apply as a Delegate, please visit here. After being accepted to the conference, the enrollment form will be sent to you via email. If you encounter any difficulties receiving this information, please contact our Global Recruitment Team.

How much does it cost to join the AIBC 2024 AM Competition?Participation in the AM competition is included in your conference ticket at NO additional cost.

Will the AM competition be virtual or in person?The first round will be deck submission and the final round will be held in hybrid mode where online presentation will be available. However, we encourage finalists to attend the presentation in person as only students attend physically could attend the exclusive networking session.

Do I need to be part of a team to join?You can join as a solo participant or as part of a team of no more than four people. If you would like to join a team but do not have teammates, we are more than happy to pair you with other delegates. Simply check the appropriate box on the enrollment form, and you will receive further details.

Will the M&A competition be virtual or in person?The first round will be deck submission and the final round will be held in hybrid mode where online presentation will be available at HSBC Hong Kong Office. However, we encourage finalists to attend the presentation in person as only students attend physically could attend the exclusive networking session.

How many participants are in a team?Each team must comprise 3-4 members to demonstrate teamwork for the case study. Individual applicants who would like to join a team will be randomly paired up with other individuals based on university and geographical location.

Will the S&T competition be virtual or in person?The competition will be held virtually via Zoom on Aug 29.

What do I need for the competition?The trading simulation is best accessed through a Google Chrome browser so we highly recommend using a laptop, PC or Mac with a stable internet connection. We advise against using a phone or tablet.

Do I need any previous finance knowledge to enter the competition?You do not need any prior knowledge of finance. We will provide you with all the essential resources to guide you through each aspect of the competition.
